ABSTRACT

'It is profoundly true,' wrote Wilson and Evans (1980), 'that the quality of any provision for children will depend on the quality of the people who run it' (p. 80). Similarly, Franklin (1945), stated that she did 'not think that it can be too much emphasised that in planned environmental therapy the staff are the most important factor' (p. 14). These are sentiments we endorse. The staff are a school's most important asset and play a major part in determining its success.
