ABSTRACT

The process of school improvement is concerned with setting up the circumstances which increase the chances of the school becoming a learning organisation and those within it endowed with a constant sense of learning, of renewal and improvement. Lewin (1948) explained that if people were unable to determine the relationship between efforts made and achievement that this had a ‘severe effect’ on their capacity and willingness to learn. In terms of the soft side of the process Lewin suggested this then deprived people ‘of their legitimate desire for satisfaction on a realistic basis.’ This message links the previous chapter and this final chapter on monitoring and evaluation.
