ABSTRACT

Geographical studies deal with the real world, looking at both the physical and human environments. As well as giving pupils the opportunity to explore the natural world, to consider how people live, and how these interact with each other, they help pupils to develop a ‘sense of place’. By considering what makes where they live special to them, they are helped to understand how other people identify with their own places. This in turn is a springboard to understanding and respecting differences between places and societies.
