Puppets and Masks

Puppetry, mask-making and performance have traditionally been important aspects of primary school life, offering unparalleled opportunities for exploring and contrasting literature, storytelling, decorative and even political influences on the art form. Children need opportunities from a range of experiences to create their own artworks and performances, and to recognise that this is a valid part of the research process. The product is no less individual and personal for being based on other examples, and need never be the straightforward reproduction of a given model.
