ABSTRACT

Unit or equivalent. If this is not possible, a 'help' system can be used. This involves 'training' a few pupils in each class to take a prearranged signal, such as a coloured card, to the office or staffroom. The timetable is arranged so that one senior member of staff is always available and on 'help duty' so that he or she can be contacted in the event of an emergency. This member of staff would be informed of the need for help in a particular room with a particular member of staff and would go to remove the pupil from the situation. The teacher's sanity is now of more importance than this pupil's education and it is imperative that we keep the situation in perspective.
