Introduction The ‘Involving Pupils’ project

Introduction For the purposes of this book, we have understood the notion of involving pupils to encompass a continuum of partnerships, from staff being interested in who pupils are, through to pupils having a substantial say in how an institution moves forward and what goes on in it. Pupil perspectives, we propose, may inform debate on a number of levels across this continuum. In the following examples, we illustrate these possibilities and show how they may contribute to a range of appropriate outcomes for pupils with special educational needs.
