ABSTRACT

It is important that each pupil from a special school who accesses a mainstream school is monitored as to the value of their inclusion experience. It needs to be shown to be enhancing the whole experience of school, educationally, socially and also in behavioural and emotional development. Each special school already has its own recording system that includes the IEP of each pupil. These are devised at the annual review meetings with input from parents/carers and other professionals concerned with the education and wellbeing of the pupil or student.
