ABSTRACT
Throughout the world of education, intensive efforts are being made to identify and support talented students. In the area of sport these efforts are exaggerated by the political, commercial and social imperatives of individual countries. In Britain we know that the success of the Olympic teams raises morale throughout the country, and there is a consensus that our talented young sportspeople should be given every opportunity to develop their potential.
