ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the SEA of the Irish National Plan , a multiannual, multisectoral regional economic development plan drawn up in accordance with European Union structural funds regulations. The plan was prepared in 1993 and published in September of that year, coinciding with its formal submission to the European Commission. The subsequent Community Support Framework (CSF), which sets out the agreed development priorities, financial allocations, and monitoring and administrative arrangements, was approved by the Commission in July 1994.
