ABSTRACT
Colombia has abundant renewable water resources with more than 1000 river systems and 720,000 micro-watersheds. Rainfall levels exceed 2000 mm per year for over 88 per cent of the country, with a national average of 3000 mm per year. The total volume of rainfall is 3425 km3 and the evaporation volume is 1313 km3, giving an overall water availability of 2000 km3 per year.
