ABSTRACT
Air pollution in Santiago is a serious problem. Every winter, the ambient air quality standards are violated for suspended particulate matter (PM-10) and carbon monoxide (CO) while in the summer excessive levels of ozone (O3) are the norm. One of the major consequences of this situation is the health cost associated with air pollution, which is estimated to be around US$100 million. 3
