ABSTRACT
The ToDo! Awards are the only awards that we know of dedicated specifically to socially responsible tourism. They are presented each year at the International Tourism Exchange in Berlin by the German NGO Studienkreis fur Tourismus und Entwicklung. The winners are described in more detail in the Holiday Directory and on the Studienkreis website (https://www.studienkreis.org" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">www.studienkreis.org). The award criteria are:
raising awareness among local people of the impacts of tourism;
participation of a broad range of local people in tourism;
good working conditions for local employees, including pay, security, hours, training;
reinforcement of local culture;
minimization of the social and cultural damage caused by tourism;
developing new partnerships between the tourist industry and local people;
helping to develop socially responsible tourism in destination areas;
environmental sustainability.
