ABSTRACT
Location: The historic town of Cahokia is located on the Mississippi River in southwestern Illinois, just off U.S. Interstate 255. The Cahokia Mounds State Historic and World Heritage Site is located about fifteen miles to the northeast, near Collinsville, Illinois; the site extends just north of Illinois Route 40 and is bordered on the east by U.S. Interstates 55 and 70, on the west by U.S. Interstate 255, and on the south by Illinois Routes 50 and 64.
