ABSTRACT
Through being in Switzerland on 27 February 1933, the night of the Reichstag Fire, to give a broadcast, Toller escaped arrest and never returned to Germany. His works were burnt on 10 May, and on 23 August he was deprived of his German citizenship and his property was confiscated.
