ABSTRACT

No More Peace opened in London on 11 June 1936; five weeks later (17/18 July 1936) the revolt of the Spanish Army in Morocco under the leadership of Emilio Mola and Francisco Franco set in motion the Spanish Civil War, prelude to World War II, which more and more dominated the last three years of Toller’s life and whose outcome in the victory of the fascists finally led to his suicide on 22 May 1939, three days after Franco’s great victory parade in Madrid on 19 May 1939.
