Document 2 Soviet Draft of a Treaty on the Establishment of Mutual Agreement between the USSR and Great Britain in the Solution of Post-War Questions and on their Joint Actions to Maintain Security in Europe after the Termination of War with Germany

The Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on the one side, and His Majesty the King of Great Britain on the other side,

Being concerned with the desire to direct their joint efforts at a better organisation of the cause of peace and maintenance of security in Europe after the victory over Hitlerite Germany, have agreed to conclude the present Treaty and appointed their Plenipotentiaries

who, having communicated their full powers, found in good and due form, have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE 1 Both Parties mutually undertake that, in the solution of post-war questions connected with the organisation of the cause of peace and security in Europe, they will act by mutual agreement.
