ABSTRACT
Leonid Alexandrovich Grabovsky was born on January 28, 1935 in Kiev (Ukraine). He started his music training in 1951 (piano and musical theory). The same year he entered Kiev University to major in economics, graduating in 1956. He studied composition at the Kiev Conservatoire (1954-59) with Lev Revutsky and Boris Lyatoshinsky. He also completed the postgraduate course there (1959-62). Over different periods of time (in 1961-63 and 1966-68) he taught at the Kiev Conservatoire. In 1982 he moved to Moscow where he worked as an editor with the Sovetskaya Muzyka magazine. Since 1990 he has been residing in New York.
