ABSTRACT

After leaving school, the workplace provides a major source for further learning for most people. Learning from work experience, in an informal way, is an important way for employees to acquire new skills and knowledge. Most companies also provide formal schooling activities for their employees. We refer to the learning which takes place within corporations as corporate training and development or Human Resource Development (HRD) 1 . A proactive and efficient HRD function enables companies to keep abreast of new developments and market challenges. In the current business reality of many companies this is extremely important, since the environment of many corporations is marked by continuous and very rapid change.
