ABSTRACT

An intervention in the physical environment causes environmental change: a road is constructed, a plant is built, or an airport is enlarged. All these interventions lead to additional activities: new or more traffic, industrial activity, and more airplane take-offs and landings. These may cause any kind of negative feelings, a very broad term that can be interpreted solely as a psychological category, a state of mind caused by lack of personal well-being or caused by any source of psycho-social stress.
