ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses many exercises which may be developed into partner work, some of which have been directly indicated. It focuses on exercises which are specifically using physical contact with a partner. In moving together we begin to communicate with each other, and in so doing we may find that we extend ourself beyond our individual range of movement. Let the contact grow and go where it will, pressing and shifting, communicate with the partner through flexible, sensitive spines. Working with a partner, giving or taking weight people can experience many subtle gradations of physical sensation. Massaging a partner can lead quite easily into a form of contact dance. Touch and pressure can be like signals for movement. At the end of each encounter with a partner, there is the moment of separation, of no longer sharing the energy, of taking back full responsibility for ourself.
