ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book summarizes the control practices and puts them into a theoretical perspective. It looks at the unintended effects of these controls. The book outlines a series of areas of research that might be pursued. It examines the methods that public and private organizations have used to control state crime in individual countries. The book articulates and analyses a number of practices to control the state crimes. Despite some researchers' difficulty and eloquent argument against the use of the term state crime, the book achieves a dominant position in several domains. Although there is considerable variability in how state crimes are defined, there is also consensus among the contributors to the book with respect to which actions should be labeled "state crimes".
