ABSTRACT

The explanation of how the Jews came to be plundered in the context of the Holocaust is a subject that concerns itself as much with the motivations of the war as it does human nature itself. The historian Jeanette Greenfield, while mitigating Nazi plunder in light of other historical plunders, nevertheless depicted the program as "only exceptional in its scale, its ruthlessness, its planning, and even its recording". Kurt Burch has written on the concept of property as a form of rule. It is therefore important to understand that the plunder of the Jews was the beginning of the Holocaust. To understand the extent of the plunder, an explanation of the six types of plunder and the methods by which it was done must be explained. They are: Plunder by Decree; Plunder by Abandonment; Plunder by Duress; Plunder by Seizure; Plunder by Proxy; Plunder by Use of Slave and Forced Labor.
