ABSTRACT

Among the Chernobyl non governmental organisations (NGOs), a particularly important role is played by those with Chernobyl victims in their membership who live in contaminated areas and struggle for survival and also organizations of disabled liquidators. The Moscow State University Research Association of Chernobyl Disabled Persons also took part in the comprehensive program of social aid to invalids under the auspices of the Moscow City government. There are lots of instances of Chernobyl truth persecutors turned into its defenders, people who have set up NGOs and even occupied top posts in the governments of now independent states in the wake of the Soviet Union's disintegration. In every silver lining, there are interwoven a few poison-tipped needles. People over the world contributed what they could to help out the dispossessed in a desperate plight, only to find the money was spent on another duplicitous concoction by the party bosses.
