ABSTRACT

Israel's attitude is the conflict and its effect in bringing about a change in the Arab side, as well as the possibility of a resort to violence. The Arab-Israel conflict is a grave one; the Arab attitude is rigid and is supported by an ideological basis, but this does not imply that the situation is immune to the effects of time and incapable of change. A diminution of ideological ardour may bring the Arabs to a clearer perception of the circumstances in which they live, enabling them to realize the differences, even the incompatibility, between the ideology and other Arab interests and tendencies. In the Arab attitude, for example, there is a measure of flexibility in the direction of intensification. Through its actions Israel is, generally, more capable of intensifying Arab fury than reducing it.
