ABSTRACT

Numerous governmental and private organizations attempt to oversee animal-human interactions and rely on a mosaic of laws to eliminate mistreatment. Different industries are obligated to treat animals in a certain way under standard practices, policies, duties, and laws depending on the activities and animals involved. Animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment are the most common criminal charges against animal owners. In neglect cases animal owners usually fail to feed animals and provide proper veterinary care. Lawful treatment of domesticated farm animals varies according to the kinds of farming jurisdiction and the species. One nearly unregulated farming industry is fur. Experimenters and lab technicians must be adequately and properly trained to work in the experiment and with particular species. Companion animals are better protected under the law than most animals. Almost all wildlife is protected to some extent. Numerous governmental and private organizations are willing to protect animals.
