ABSTRACT

The foreign policy initiated by the administration of George W. Bush has been widely discussed; and the United States (US) war in Iraq offers a prime example of the "Bush Doctrine" in action. Bush's policies have greatly polarized the US electorate. His radical policies have reversed many previous social and environmental policies in different areas, while favouring business and wealthy supporters' interests instead. There are a number of domestic and international issues concerning Bush administration policies that should be of concern to in-formed US citizens wishing to preserve democracy at home and US standing in the world. The Bush administration has a policy of great secrecy in many areas of policy. The Bush administration has resisted efforts of the Commission charged with investigating the failures of the intelligence community and others to adequately anticipate the events of 9/11. The Patriot Act pushed by the Bush administration and the Justice Department, have sacrificed civil liberties in favour of security.
