ABSTRACT
The author was born in 1945 at the end of World War II. It was also the end of the Holocaust. The Holocaust has been a very significant issue in the author's life. The fact of the Holocaust was always present in the author's lives, both the author's family's life and the life of Israeli society at that time. It was present in his lives without the author speaking of it, as if it was an issue that they were not to speak of, especially not with the author's father. The author knew, though, that his mother had lost brothers and sisters in Poland. The fact that the author's father lost practically all of his family in the Holocaust was not a secret, but we did not really know details about his family. The author's father died before the war, and all the brothers and sisters, eight persons who were born to two different mothers, perished in the Holocaust.
