ABSTRACT
The body 'as energetic' is a central motif within New Age healing circles in Scotland. Central to all discussions of power in the Scottish healing context is 'the body as energetic'. Helen opened the weekend by telling the authors that what they would learn at this workshop should be regarded as a good basis for any further practice of 'healing through the energy field'. Helen also advised them that these 'screens' vary at different times in a human being's life. The presentation of the chakra system in Helen's workshop saw them being tied into two initial sets of groupings, these offering 'insights into our individual makeup'. In order to obtain 'a visible picture' of energy flowing through the charkas, participants were next shown how to use a dowsing crystal. Healing narratives encompassing spirit entities therefore tell us a lot about how healers see the world and how they 'frame their personal search for meaning'.
