ABSTRACT
This chapter continues to build a picture of Reiki healing by focusing more specifically on representations of the nature of Reiki energy and symbols. As with all things Reiki, representations vary about 'the nature of Reiki energy'. These representations are intimately related to the Reiki symbols or characters and their historical roots. One of America's most respected Reiki Masters is William Rand. Rand first experienced Reiki energy when he was initiated or attuned, by Bethal Phaigh in 1981. German Reiki Master, Walter Lubeck, also regards Reiki as a form of spiritual path, which in its practical elements is intimately related to Chinese esoteric and medical systems. In describing Reiki as 'loving energy' Fiona locates herself alongside writers such as Doi, for he states that ' "Reiki-ho" is a technique to heal everything you see, come across or touch by being a passage of Reiki-Universal energy as well as the wave of love'.
