ABSTRACT

Ethics is a system of moral principles recognized by particular groups or individuals. In research, ethics are formed by federal government guidelines as well as an individual researcher’s set of beliefs. The most important rule to follow as a researcher is to be true to the research process. From beginning to end, researchers must be honest and revealing about the process of developing and carrying out the research. Ethical researchers explain without altering what other researchers say, design relevant studies, define and collect valid and reliable information, never fabricate data or results, never overgeneralize findings or draw sweeping conclusions, and when data are collected from human subjects, the human subjects are to be afforded all the rights and protections guaranteed by law.
