Forty Years Aren’t Enough: Recollections, Prognostications, and Random Musings

Some 20 years ago I wrote a chapter that described my recollections and experiences in the field over the previous two decades (Hare, 1986). Now, another 20 years down the road, it is time to provide an update, but this time with more emphasis on my impressions of the important trends in theory and research over that period, coupled with what I see for the future. My hope, unrealistic I know, is that I will be able to repeat the exercise in another 20 years.
