ABSTRACT

Researchers tend to focus on the political and military aspects of its activity. In the sense, the Order is studied as being more like any other State organism rather than as a religious community. The main theme of conferences has been the history of the Teutonic Order as a religious community within the wider context of the activity of other military-religious orders. The architecture of the military orders on Polish lands is the subject of some monographs on the history of art. However rich and diverse the range of problems examined by the Polish historians of the military orders, further study can still provide new insights and fascinating results. The progress of the research and its scope in Polish historiography vary from one order to another, depending on their prospective significance in the history of Poland. In a noteworthy article, he demonstrated analogies and contrasts in the positions of two groups accepted by the Church in the late Middle Ages.
