ABSTRACT
The testimonies of the Templars during their trial are perhaps more interesting for the incidental information they provide about the brethren and the Order than for their direct answers to the articles of accusation. The records of the trial can be used to discuss a variety of topics, including recruitment 1 and literacy, but this paper will consider briefly the age-ranges of brethren, their length of service, and mobility of brothers within the Order.
