ABSTRACT

After returning to Poland, Panufnik found his parents in the same situation as before – his father mainly occupied with his string instruments, his mother continually unwell and requiring care. His brother Mirek had now been married for several years and had to look after his wife (they had met in the mid-1930s in Zakopane, where Maria was being treated for ТВ) and their three-year-old daughter Ewa. Mirek and his family lived in Radość near Warsaw, and he worked as a technician for Polish Radio.
