ABSTRACT

Imagine you are at your desk working one afternoon, when two police officers suddenly appear and request that you answer a few questions. They begin with, “Where were you a week ago last Sunday, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon?” How quickly could you recall the relevant information? How accurate would you be? If you hesitate, how will you be perceived? What if you provide your statement and then realize later that you were mistaken? How would (or should) your responses be interpreted by the police officers? When does your statement officially become an alibi?
