ABSTRACT
Over the past four years we have visited hundreds of schools in states all across our nation. In fact, there are only four states we did not visit. We can tell you that teachers across America want to be successful with the children they teach. They want to experience the satisfaction of knowing that the work they do is valuable and that it pays off in good returns for student learning. Teachers tell us all the time of the joy they feel when a child who has been struggling with a skill or concept finally grasps it.
