ABSTRACT

The five brothers who stayed in England settled there and, with the exception of John for the last few years of his life, never returned to live in Venice. The members of the second generation who were born in England took advantage of this right to move outside London and build up property. If Augustine had been born in England, he could have inherited property from his father, which as people shall see was not the case. Lodovico, Augustine's younger brother, may have been the 'Law.' of the 1545 family denization record, because he was apparently old enough to serve at Court in his father's place in 1554. The subsidy record of 10 January 1564 places Augustine both in St Katherine Coleman and with Mark Anthony and Jasper Bassano in All Hallows Staining. Anthony had five sons who grew to adulthood: Mark Anthony, Arthur, 1st Edward, Andrea and Jeronimo II.
