ABSTRACT
Teamwork involves participating in meetings; indeed the act of meeting is the visible manifestation of teamworking in action. The Team Meeting Effectiveness Index provides a straightforward metric of the degree to which team meetings are efficient, effective and improve teamwork. This chapter evaluates the effectiveness of a team meeting. It assists a team leader to assess the effectiveness of their own skills. The chapter provides a diagnostic input for team building process and offers techniques for making meetings more effective. If the Team Meeting Effectiveness Index is to be used as the basis for a team-building session, then a week or so prior to the event all members at a particular meeting are invited to spend a few minutes at the end of the meeting filling out the 'Assessment'. Copies can be placed in a sealed envelope and kept for a team-building session. The Team Meeting Effectiveness Index may also be used as a standalone input following a team meeting.
