ABSTRACT
Tomás Luis de Victoria was born c. 1548 357 in or near Avila in Spain. 358 Coincidentally, Avila was also the birthplace of St Teresa (1515-82), a somewhat older contemporary of Victoria who is renown for her special combination of visionary mysticism and practical common-sense, and the focal point of her activities throughout her lifetime.
