ABSTRACT

In a full world, we must come to terms with the fact that environmental space is limited, and that we are already exceeding many of those limits. This means that we must reorganise production and consumption in a coherent and targeted manner if the planet, our home, is not to be further despoiled. The limits are determined by the carrying capacity and recuperative power of ecosystems, the availability and renewability of resources, and the limited ability of the planet to absorb pollution.
