ABSTRACT
The first or second year after the opening of the gospel, Daniel Goodrich junr being in conversation with Father James {Whittaker} 1 at Watervliet, Father James said, “Daniel, faith is a gift of God, whenever a soul receives it, then his heaven or hell will begin – in obedience heaven, in disobedience hell. And according to the increase of obedience will be the increase of Heaven; so according to the increase of disobedience will be the increase of hell; – it is as true as God is true.” These words were spoken by Father James with such solemnity and power of God, as left a weighty and lasting impression in Daniel’s mind.
