ABSTRACT

This chapter considers some of the practices necessary for the exercise of leadership in relation to larger sectors–whole Business Units, Divisions, and the Corporation. It shows that managers will always inform subordinates of the context in which the subordinates are working; and the subordinates will always keep their managers informed about significant features of their situation which the managers might not know about. The chapter argues that the question of the leadership properties of large-scale organizational relationships. The organizational values should permeate all levels and have a powerful effect upon shared values and commitment at the work-place. The chapter addresses the essence of being requisitely organized and operating, is that one will not have too many layers, so that delayering will never be necessary. It considers a requisite process to handle downsizing and lay-off in a requisite organization.
