ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the major functions that are necessary at various levels of organization, and some of the principles for aligning those functions into useful groupings. Requisite functional alignment is based upon the observation that the same general functions occur in all businesses regardless of size; from small Str-II businesses to Str-VIII super-corporations. The distinction between function, role and process is of the greatest importance. Managerial Accountability Hierarchy (MAH) are established by associations to satisfy needs of persons or organizations referred to as clients or customers. Sponsored MAHs established by an association that gains its revenues from sources other than MAH-earned revenues; and in which the clients may be the association itself, or sections of the general public. The chapter shows that the discipline home base units provide the technical staff for the construction of project teams by attachment, with designated project team leaders accountable for carrying out projects.
