NEITHER pure silver nor silver alloyed with copper is used as money among the tribes farthest north, because of the glib Muscovite traders who, following in the footsteps of the money-hungry Greeks, consider it glorious and profitable to cheat all their neighbours, and indeed anyone living far off, with the basest coinage manufactured from a mixture of iron, tin, and lead.
