THE examination of sable, marten, ermine, beaver, lynx, and otter furs requires very careful concentration, for they may come into the hands of buyers after being tampered with in one way or another, so that these people often regret their purchase when they discover a sudden change in the colours.1 Two different types of squirrels' fur (which in Italian are called schirasse or dossine) are to be found.
