ALTHOUGH the whole world believes that a band of irregulars and an unarmed mob of countrymen have no skill in military discipline, a far stricter procedure can be discerned among northern peoples. These men gather together money enough to last for a certain period, along with weapons, and assemble for war as eagerly as if they were off to a dance.1
