ABSTRACT
In January 1893 the Czech String Quartet presented their first concert in Vienna. Founded in 1891 by four students at the Prague Conservatory, the youthful quartet were greeted with such enthusiasm that the players had to lengthen their stay in Vienna in order to perform three more concerts.1
