ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the nine public, secondary-level schools (Grades 5–12) that participated in the study. The primary sources for this chapter are a survey completed by a school administrator and the two applications submitted by the schools in the spring 2002 as part of the Hewlett-Packard High-Achieving Schools Grant Initiative. Achievement data for all the participating schools, also provided in the schools’ applications, is included in appendix D. First, there is a summary of the process for selecting schools to participate in this study.
