ABSTRACT
The Rev. Thomas Rackett, Rector of Spettisbury near Blandford, Dorset for over 60 years, was one of those eighteenth-century clergymen whose interests were easily diverted from parish work. In fact he must be unique in that several of his parishioners, perhaps despairing of ever getting his attention, defected to the Catholic faith.
