ABSTRACT
This chapter serves as a brief introduction to ideas from the theory of locally convex spaces. A linear space topology and concepts of convergence and continuity are introduced by means of a collection of seminorms. The spaces of test functions, on which generalized functions are defined, will fall within such a frame work. Properties of test functions and generalized functions frequently used in the literature are summarised.
